Stocking Dies basic cards

One of the things I always wished I had growing up was a fire place I could hang a stocking at Christmas time. Truth be told we never even had stockings, we had Santa Sacks instead (a pillow case sided sack printed with Christmas images), which were probably better because they held way more presents!

Sometimes the old saying "Less is Best" is true and today's cards prove it.
A basic design with three stockings and a sentiment create a sleek and stunning card. These cards took a while to make because of all the die cutting required (each stocking is 4 pieces) but once all the pieces were cut they came together quickly. I used the Jolly Felt and (Retired) Be Dazzling Paper to create the stockings. I didn't think that I would like using the felt for cards - but I was pleasantly surprised how they turned out and how great they look.
Which colour stockings do you like the best - the Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight or White? I think I like the green the best - which is odd because green is not one of my favourite colours.

To make these cards, I embossed Crumb cake with the bricks and mortar embossing folder and an inch thick piece of early espresso cardstock in the bark embossing folder. These were adhered to a card base, then the stockings and sentiment were attached. And that's all there is to it - simple cards, easy to make.

You can find  list of the products I've used to create these cards below and if you live in Australia, you can click on any image to purchase it from my online store.

Well I hope you enjoyed looking at these cards,
Until next time

Christmas Lanterns.

One of the things I love about Christmas is the carols. We generally attend two local carol's as well as watching carols on TV. And while I love the feel and smell of real candles, with Christmas down under being so hot and often dry, our bush fire rating is often  high to extreme so battery powered candles are the way to go to keep everyone safe.

But a plastic candle can be kind of boring - so I've created these lanterns to hold the candles.
I've experimented with different dies to create the windows  including the Gingerbread dies, the Gift giving dies and stitched rectangle dies - each one creates a very different look.

The other thing I love about these lanterns is that I've made them with a swing top so that the lid opens up, meaning that I can use the either for a lantern or fill them with lollies and small gifts to create a unique gift bag that can be used as a lantern as well!

Scroll all the way to the bottom to see a list of products I've used to make the lanterns and also to read the instructions on how to make them.

The above lanterns were created using the Gingerbread dies.

These lanterns use the gift giving dies which give a real Christmas feel.

These ones use the stitched rectangle and stitched so sweetly dies. Using the different dies gives each lantern a different feel.

TIP: always make your first attempt using a piece of cardstock you have a lot of  - or that you don't like. Then if it doesn't work you're not wasting your good cardstock.

Delivering Cheer tag cards

Are you a traditional or non- traditional Christmas colour person? I think I'm a little of both - I love pinks and purples and blues but I also don't mind a little red and green (As long as they are the right red and greens).

Today I've used the Delivering cheer stamp set from the July-December 2021 Mini Catalogue to create a set of cards that feature both traditional and non-traditional Christmas colours.

I love the versatility of this Stamp set which has images that could be paired with different sentiments to make birthday or sympathy or even just because cards. Just swap out the Christmas sentiment and it's a stamp set for all seasons.

Scroll down to the end of the page to see the products I've used and Instructions on how to make these cards.

How pretty are the pastel cards? A little Wink of Stella on the the skirt of the dress or on the flowers provide a touch of bling. You can see I've cut out the top body image and adhered it using dimensional to give it a little lift.

A great tip is to use your Stamparatus to place your stamp, then re-ink and stamp in the same place 2-3 times to create a darker crisper image.
